When you want to achieve something, for example, lose weight, you may work really hard at it. But for some reason, there are many people who fail to reach their goal, time and time again. And the more they try, the more failure they experience. They don’t know why this is happening.

They’ve done everything right. So what’s stopping their success? If this sounds like you and you are trying to make big changes in your life, but things are not going well, then read on about the benefits of positive affirmations.

Your Unconscious Mind May Be Working Against You

So what is preventing success? The unfortunate answer is your own unconscious mind is probably to blame for sabotaging your success. If you have tried losing weight before and it wasn’t successful, your unconscious mind may have stored all the negative feelings of failure and disappointment. It has likely created deep-seated beliefs such as:

“I’ve tried so many diets and they never work. This one probably won’t work either”.

“Why should I bother? It’s a waste of time”.

Therefore, no matter how much you consciously want to lose weight, unless you address the beliefs deep in your unconscious mind, you will continue to be unsuccessful. You see, your unconscious mind is a lot more powerful than your conscious mind. This is where the benefits of positive affirmations step in.

    What Are Positive Affirmations?

Positive affirmations are uplifting statements that are read or listened to frequently. They are similar to hypnosis and the Emotional Freedom Technique in that they are a tool that can be used to change a person’s negative or limiting beliefs. Why is this important? Because, if you have negative beliefs, they are counter-productive to what you want to achieve. You’re own entrenched beliefs are like an enemy that is fighting your progress and stopping you from achieving your goals.

You need positive, empowering beliefs to support your efforts, therefore establishing a regular affirmations practice is one way to replace those negative beliefs with positive ones. And combining it with EFT or empowering hypnosis would be even more powerful. Check out the hypnosis library.

    How Do Positive Affirmations Work?

Firstly, positive affirmations are positive statements that are meant to be uplifting and make you feel good about yourself and your life. It is important to understand that any negative beliefs you may have stored in your unconscious mind, may have been in your belief system for years or even decades, so affirmations on their own are not a quick fix.

The routine of reading or listening to positive affirmations on a regular and frequent basis is a good habit to establish for your present and future. Any goals you want to achieve or any challenges you need to overcome will be easier to accomplish with a positive mindset. And regular positive self-talk using affirmations is not only a reminder of how you want to be but also reinforces the beliefs you want to have.

What Are The Benefits Of Positive Affirmations?

Positive affirmatives are empowering, uplifting and motivating statements that make you feel good. The benefits of positive affirmations are that you are filling your mind with thoughts that will help you feel good and achieve your goals.

The mind is very powerful. So in order to successfully achieve your goals, you need to have a success mindset and using positive affirmations is a very effective method of assisting this.

Furthermore, if you believe in the Law Of Attraction then you will understand that positive affirmations help to lift your vibrations which is important for attracting abundance into your life.

At the very least, positive affirmations are good for your soul, your peace of mind, hope and optimism. They are statements of joy, love, prosperity, success, happiness and positive intent. The benefits of positive affirmations can only be good for you and your life ahead.

    Positive Affirmations Examples

Positive affirmations can be easily found online or you can create your own. If you have specific obstacles or negative beliefs you can turn them into positive statements.Woman reading Dream Big And Make It Happen on a blackboard

    For example:

“I hate being fat” becomes “I am becoming slimmer”.

“I don’t want to be broke” becomes “I am increasing my income.”

“My life is a mess” becomes “I am in the process of creating a life I love.”

“I don’t want to be lonely” becomes “I am ready for a loving relationship.”

The most important thing is you want to feel good about saying them. If you find them unrealistic and you can’t relate to them then alter the wording. Think of these statements as to how you want to be as opposed to how you currently are. Use positive language, present tense and keep them short. You can create affirmations for any area of your life e.g. work, health, money, relationships, business.

Here are some more positive affirmations examples:

    • I am grateful for everything I have.Woman sitting on grass writing in a journal
    • I am a kind, loving person.
    • I deserve all the good in the world.
    • I am open and receptive to new business ideas.
    • I am creating a wonderful life.
    • I am energetic and enthusiastic.
    • I have the perfect living space.
    • I am fit, healthy and slim.
    • I am well-organized.
    • I am in control of my life.
    • I am confident and assertive.
    • I accept what I cannot change.
    • I am in control of my thoughts, feelings and choices.
    • I always find solutions to challenges.
    • Every day, in every way, I am becoming more and more successful.
    • Every day, I am becoming happier and healthier.

Whatever You Focus On, Will Grow

If you focus on problems, failure, and all the unhappy feelings and emotions that come with them, then you will just continue to get more of the same. But if you focus on finding solutions and learning how to make positive changes in all areas of your life then you will be successful and achieve all the goals you set. I use all the methods outlined above and the benefits of positive affirmations, EFT and hypnosis are truly life-changing. So be proactive. Focus on positive changes and you will get positive results.

I really related to your article. I practice mindfulness everyday and often repeat an affirmation throughout my day. I sometimes set my phone or I make a conscious effort to repeat my affirmation every time I get up from my chair at work. I have personally seen how powerful positive thoughts can be not only for myself but others around me. My energy both positive and negative can have a profound affect on those around me….I am hoping to learn more about energy in the New Year as it fascinates me. Affirmations are one of my favorite ways to start my day. One of my favorite places to get affirmations is from my Louise Hay books.
        Cheers, Eliza

Thanks for your comments Eliza. I can see why you related to this article. You certainly have a well-established affirmations practice in place and I’m sure benefiting well from it. I am also a Louise Hay fan and have used many of her affirmations too.
